Our customer's brief was to produce a dedicated automatic TIG welding machine to weld a boss onto the middle of an electrical motor component. Additionally there was a requirement to accurately align the boss to markings on the housing before welding commenced. The machine was to be operated by semi-skilled personnel who were not trained as welders. INGENIA Automation Ltd provided a complete package solution including the supply of a proprietary TIG welding unit, adapted to suit the application. The alignment of the housing to the boss was achieved using a laser line 'sight'. The machine operates completely automatically from the moment the guard is closed and the start sequence is initiated - it's progress can be monitored through special sight glasses mounted in the top and side panels. |
