Bias Cutting System & Roll Wrap Machine - USA |
INGENIA were commissioned to build two machines forming a production line for an automotive customer in the USA.
The first machine, around 10m long x 10m wide, takes calendared silicone sheet with a woven or knitted reinforcement and creates a bias-cut, 4m wide continuous roll, with reinforcing polythene film on each face. The second machine, around 5m long, removes the polythene and feeds the silicone fabric into a roller system for creating elongated hose, with the number of plys, length/diameter of hose and joint overlap all set through the HMI control screen. Both machines feature innovative technology, such as ultrasonic cutting and a digital SERCOS interface with fibre optic connections.
The one-off machines, which have increased productivity, reduced waste and improved quality for the customer, incorporate Bosch Rexroth extruded aluminium profiles for machinery framework and safety guards; self-contained linear actuators up to 5m long, ball rail and runner block systems; pneumatic cylinders and valves; plus electronic servo drives, HMI units and controls. The use of Bosch Ecodrive digital amplifiers with a PPC controller enabled us to dispense with a separate PLC, cutting hardware and commissioning costs, whilst providing precise and flexible control over all linear, pneumatic and electrical devices.
