This application demanded something slightly unusual - a machine to put accurate slits, 12mm long in four planes (90° to each other) along the entire length of 30M rolls of PVC tubing. Initially this customer asked for a hand wound machine as they felt that a motor driven, automation solution would be costly and difficult to achieve payback over a relatively short production run. INGENIA were able to demonstrate that the motor driven solution was cost effective and we were commissioned to design and manufacture the unit shown here. The unit uses standard 'break off' craft blades mounted in special fixtures, which facilitates quick and easy replacement of each blade when necessary. The four rotating blade holders are matched for speed and also provide the drive for the hose as it passes to the re-rolling drum. The complete machine is mobile and can be plugged into a standard 240V supply at various points around the factory. This machine has helped the customer achieve additional orders based on the quality, consistency and speed at which the slit hose can be delivered. |
