Medical Connector |
 |
 |
A plastic moulding manufacturer commissioned INGENIA to design, manufacture and install a machine to assemble, weld and test the four sub components of a medical tubing connector. The machine had to produce the fittings at 1800 parts per hour and remain unattended except for regular filling of the bowl feeders and removing the full bags of product.
The sequence of operation is:
- Place an 'o' ring in the end to the top
- Insert the stem so that the end
"seals" on the o ring
- Ultrasonically weld the sub assembly
- Assemble the arms in the correct orientation
- Carry out leak test at 250 mBar for 1 second – discard failures to a reject holding container
All the main features of this machine (other than the ultrasonic welder and bowl feeders) were designed and manufactured by INGENIA
